Health workers in Venezuela are asking us for help. They are worried. They have no way of protecting themselves from the pandemic.
Coronavirus cases are increasing rapidly across the country and we know the worst is yet to come.. With commitment and dedication, in a broken health system, health workers are on the front lines, fighting the virus and supporting those that are ill. Every day they are putting their lives, and those of their families, at risk.
On June 27th, 53% of hospitals had no gloves, 47% lacked masks, and over 82% had no hygiene products, such as soap, sanitising gel or disinfectants. Doctors and other health workers are dying. Just in Maracaibo, 7 medical staff have been reported to have died due to Covid, many more are hospitalised.
Today they need us. Let there be no one without protection!
In April and May, thanks to the solidarity of many, we were able to provide masks, gloves, sanitising gel, and other personal protection equipment to health workers in 34 centres across 11 states in the country.
With your help we can continue to protect them and reach many more. Now is when they really need us.
